March was a month for coming to terms with fitness levels and putting up with sub-optimal weather, assuming “any day now” it is going to warm and dry up.

Well, January’s update was a bit early, Febrary’s is a bit late. February marks the end of the cyclo-cross season, and a wake up call that the “summer” racing season is imminent.

January kicked off straight away with our traditional New Years Day cyclo-cross. The course tried to keep everyone as dry as possible on a waterlogged course after the 2nd wettest year on record, but it was still a muddy affair.

December kicked off with the biggest cyclo-cross event VCL has ever run, the South East and Eastern Regional Championships, and also a rare event away from Herne Hill.

December 9th saw VCL run the East and South East Cyclo-Cross Championships at Bethlam Hospital in Beckenham.

We didn’t get round to going on the annual club mountainbike trip to Wales in 2011. 2012 was worth the wait though with sunny, warm weather, while the those back in London had a wet weekend.
