VCL Roadtrip to Tour de France

On Tuesday, Iain, Euan, Scrippo Shaun and myself went to Boulogne to watch the 3rd stage of the Tour de France. We drove to the outskirts of Calais, and had a nice 25k ride each way to watch the race. For those who missed the Twitter updates, here’s how it went:

Not a good start to our TDF roadtrip. Sub 10minute wheelchange from Shaun. Including emptying the bikes from the boot.

Made it in time for the boat though.

Riding to Rue d'Herquelingue.

1 puncture, lots of map checking and one fairly major wrong turn slowed us down. It took us half the time to ride back.

Found a good spot to watch the race. Pitched our flag between some Belgiums and Dutch, and opposite some Norwegians.

All of our goodies from the caravans. "If I can't eat it I don't want it"

Team photo before driving back to Calais.

Waiting (ages) for the ferry.

We even made it onto TV. You can watch it for a few more days on ITV player. We’re just over 29 minutes in .
